Fishing Video:

Rocket Fishing Rod - My first thought was "do our kids really need a fishing rod that can cast by itself?" Doesn't that take the fun out of fishing? My assumption about the Rocket Fishing Rod was wrong, it is a fishing rod but it wasn't meant to replace the traditional rods. The Rocket Fishing Rod is a toy designed for our kids to enjoy fishing.

When I gave my niece, Casey, her new fishing rod, she was excited. The Rocket Fishing Rod was created with fun factor in mind. Who's child wouldn't like this toy, it's colorful, easy to use and it shoots a rocket when you push a button! Heck, forget fishing, Casey could just push the button all day if given the opportunity.

Not only is the Rocket Fishing Rod fun but it catches fish! I was skeptical when I saw the rig setup but it caught Casey her first fish on her second cast. She could have caught more fish if it wasn't for all the curious kids who surrounded us after the catch.

For all the parents out there wondering how safe this rod is, it's as safe as any other toy out there. The rod has a safety button that needs to be held down and will only shoot when you press the big button on top, so there's a slim chance the fishing rod will accidentally go off. However it is always good practice to tell your child to never point the rod at anyone. I would also recommend as a safety measure to cut the hook off when you're done fishing.

I would give this fishing rod a 5 out of 5 for fun factor, usability and functionality. The quality of the rod is good but I can see how the lines can get tangled in the rod. That doesn't bother me since you can get a traditional rod tangled-up just as easily.

I've seen a lot of negative opinions about this rod and these people are missing the point about fishing. Fishing with our kids is suppose to be fun regardless of what you use to catch them with. My niece and I had an excellent time using this fishing rod and she is only 2.5 years old. I'll go buy her a traditional rod when she gets older and decides she wants to fish like a big girl.
