Shimano fishing reels come in many different types for many different applications. I was personally looking for a Shimano fishing reel with multiple applications for an all purpose use. My interest was in a reel that I could take anywhere. Something that was light enough to carry, but strong enough to pull in a 20lb monster.

After many hours of researching different Shimano fishing reels I decided to go with the Symetre 1500RI. I chose this fishing reel because of one reason. The Symetre 1500RI came with an adjustable duel drag system that was located on the rear of the reel.

As a angler I prefer the rear drag system because of the ease of getting to the drag at the back. I also liked the added secondary drag system to help tighten the drag using a simple switch.

After two months of using this the Shimano Symetre 1500RI fishing reel I am completely satisfied with the quality and performance of this reel.

I purchased this reel at Gander for $80.00. I normally don't spend this much money on a fishing reel, but I was tired of buying cheap products that break after a few casts.

Through word of mouth and personal experience, I have come to find out that Shimano fishing reels are built to last. I highly recommend any Shimano fishing reel, especially if you are looking for durability. As for the Shimano Symetre 1500RI, I love it!
